I spent years working in the high-pressure world of the internet industry, and like so many people around me, I was quietly running on empty. The exhaustion wasn't dramatic — it was the slow, steady kind that builds up in the background, until one day you realize you can't remember the last time you felt truly at ease.
I didn't want to add more to my schedule to feel better. I didn't have the energy for that. What I was looking for were small, effortless moments of healing — a walk in the sun, the stillness of a lake, the way light moves through leaves. Real things. Things that asked nothing of me, but gave something back.
A Whisper of Warmth at the Keyboard
Then, at a local artisan market, I discovered Hexiangzhu — handcrafted botanical scent beads, made from traditional Chinese herbs. I bought a bracelet on a whim. The next morning, I wore it to work.
Somewhere in the middle of a long afternoon — deep in a document, half-listening to a meeting — I lifted my wrist to type, and caught a breath of something warm and grounding. Just a whisper of it. Sandalwood, maybe, or agarwood. I wasn't sure. But I stopped.
I brought the bracelet to my nose and inhaled slowly.
The tension in my chest loosened — quietly, like a window opening. In that small moment, I felt like myself again.
I started noticing it every day after that. The gentle release of scent when I moved my wrist across the keyboard. It was so subtle that no one around me noticed — just a private moment of calm, available whenever I needed it.
I had never felt anything like it from a fragrance before.
Beauty, Ritual & Purity — Without Compromise
Most commercial fragrances rely on synthetic binders and artificial scent compounds. They smell pleasant. But they don't do anything. True Hexiangzhu is something else entirely — born in the Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD), practiced in the Imperial court and carried by scholars. Each herb is chosen for its role, its purity, and its effect on the body and mind. This is a practice now recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of China.
I am someone who believes that beauty should never be compromised. Whether I am wearing traditional Hanfu by the West Lake or Tibetan garments before the Potala Palace, I believe in the ritual of doing things with intention. I couldn't find a brand that matched that standard — one that was genuinely pure, genuinely beautiful, and genuinely safe.
So I built it myself.

I have two cats — a 9-year-old black-and-white British Shorthair, and a 6-year-old American Shorthair. They have lived with me through every season, and they are, in their quiet way, the reason I care so deeply about what I bring into our home.

A Process That Cannot Be Rushed
Every Herbal Scent piece is made using original ancient formulas, shaped entirely by hand, and matured through the traditional "aroma awakening" process — with no synthetic fragrances, no chemical binders, and no shortcuts.
Each bead requires 15–20 minutes of individual hand-shaping and 2–4 weeks of natural curing. Behind each one is a blender who has spent decades mastering this craft.
